Saturday we spent the day at the beach! It was so nice, it was super hot at home so the beach was a the place to be! The kids like always had a blast in the sun, sand and water! They found crabs this time, huge ones and a baby star fish.
I was taking pictures and Lori just so happened to be eating her dinner but was sweet enough to pose for me.

All day Lori and I had been watching this lady that was sitting near us, she slept for 3 straight hours without looking up once at her two young daughters, who had been in and out of the water all day. Mid day her girls started playing with our kids, Luke was having a blast with them. The mom finally woke up and sat up almost falling over, then laid back down again. We thought something was up. It wasn't until around 5 when she got up and ran up to the bathroom with her Gatorade bottle (which we knew wasn't Gatorade) leaving her two same girls alone that we really knew something was up with her. Lori and I went and told the life guard we suspected she was drunk and we were concerned about the girls. he then called another life guard to come over had talk to us. We pointed the lady (which was now on the board walk running away from where we were, mind you the 2 girls 7 and 6 were with us playing with our kids. The life guard drove by where she was and she came up to him and started talking, he could smell the alcohol on her so he called the police. Police showed up, talked to us, we pointed the direction we last saw her at and they went and found her (we still are watching the little girls and it has been over an hour since the mom ran off). Police drove back over to us with her in the back seat, they took all of our statements and talked to the little girls, got all their stuff which wasn't much, just a few towels and the mom's purse that had empty wine bottles in it. Mind you when they found the mom she was 4 life guard stands away from where we were asking random people for money. Earlier we had asked the girls if they had eaten and they said they had breakfast, well it was 6 p.m. now, so we started giving them any of our snack food we had. They didn't even have dry clothes! Another police unit drove up and one took the mom to jail the other took the little girls into child protection services. it was so sad, but the girls didn't act like they hadn't been threw it before. Better they be safe then with a drunk mommy. Sad way to end a good day at the beach.
