It is amazing how when you have a newborn you don't have much time for anything else except the baby even though they sleep so much. I have been trying to update my blog since the day we came home from the hospital..
Ok, where did we leave off???

That morning (I know I already went through this day, but I am adding to it) around 8 a.m. the nurse came in and was getting the bed next to me ready for a new mom, I was not thrilled knowing that I would now have a room mate and bathroom mate.. EWW!! But the maternity ward was packed and everyone room had 2 people in them except me, so it was bond to happen. Now mind you the hospital just completed a brand new maternity wing, but it had not been opened yet because of inspections etc. It is due to open this week (Feb 16). So all of us new mommies only missed having our own big private room by a few weeks. Later Monday night I had told the nurse that our faucet in the bathroom was leaking from underneath every time we turned the sink on, so she called maintenance to come repair it. A few minutes later she came in and said that the hospital won't allow us to even stay in that room anymore with a leaky pipe, so we had to be moved rooms. Well there were no empty rooms so my room mate went to one room and I went to another. It was the same night nurse I had had the previous night and I think she was the head nurse, she worked it out so I could have my own private room that was only meant for one patient. Wow did I luck out!!! I was so happy!!
Of course I don't sleep in the hospital, for some reason my kids will not sleep in those plastic beds they have for the babies, so I end up holding them all night, which is fine because I have waited 9 months to hold them.
Tuesday morning G and Luke came to get us and bring us home, but discharge took a little longer then they would have liked. Luke kept saying ~Lets go home~. Before my nurse did the discharge paper work I told her that the baby looked really yellow, she said as long at it isn't going to his chest he is fine, I told her it was already on his chest, so she looked and said well as long as he is still pooping. I thought he was too yellow for a baby of only 2 days.
We left the hospital around noon. Luke was so excited to be able to sit next to Blake in the car! he grinned all the way home. It was so cute.
We got home and I basically went straight to bed. I was so tired form not sleeping 2 nights in the hospital. I took a 3 hour nap and still was super tired, but it helped. We ordered pizza for dinner and just all hung out as a new family of 6!
Wednesday the baby was even more yellow then he was on Tuesday. We went throughout our day and come around 2:00 I told G that the baby had not pooped all day. I called the Dr and she returned my call around 4:00 and said she would like to get his belirubin levels checked, so off G and I went back down across from the hospital to the lab. They said the Dr would get the results around 7 p.m. that night. She had told me earlier that she didn't think his numbers would come back any higher then 17 and that if they were around that she would order for the lights be delivered to our house and he could be under them here. She called me almost at 8 p.m and said that his count was 22 almost the highest she has ever seen it and that she needs to admit him back into the hospital. I started to cry. G and I got him and I threw some things for myself into a bag, told Brittney what was going on and asked her if she wanted our friend from down the street to come up so she wasn't alone and she said no she was fine. We got to the hospital and they had a room waiting for us. Thank heavens it was a private room with a bed for me, his bed of lights and a bathroom, so I never had to leave him. They did another belirubin count and it had gone up to 24. That is when they told me I could not take him out to feed him or for anything. It was so sad to see him in there all alone and his eyes covered. I just wanted to hold my new baby. They drew his blood again at 4 a.m. and his count had gone down to 19, so that was good news. I could not stop crying all day that day, I started in the morning and could not stop. I missed my older kids, I missed G cause he was home with Luke and to get Britt and Kyle from school, so he couldn't come down until later. I just so badly wanted to be home with all 6 of us.
Friday morning his leaves were 12 so I knew we would get to go home!! I was so excited. Our Dr. came in around 11 and said yes we could leave, so I called G and him and Luke headed down to pick us up for the 2nd time.
Luke laughed so hard to see Blake with the sunglasses on his eyes, he thought that was so cool.
Blake's weight also had dropped....
Birth- 8lbs 4 oz
Discharge weight- 7 lbs 10 oz
3 days old admission back in the hospital- 7 lbs 6 oz
discharge weight for the 2nd time-7 lbs 12 oz.
8 days old- almost 9 pounds.
He is doing great now, still a little yellow especially in the whites of his eyes, but in time that will work its self out.
