2009 I had heard of Elf on a Shelf. I looked into it and what it is, is a elf that comes sometime after Thanksgiving. He is full of Christmas magic, so he can not be touched my humans otherwise the Christmas Magic will be lost. Every night he flies back to the North Pole to report back to Santa Claus on the children's behavior, so every morning he is in a new location in the house!
When he came to our family in 2009 we had been in San Jose for 5 days, when we got home their was a package from the North Pole on our porch and it was Elf and a Shelf along with the story book that goes with it. The story explains how his Christmas Magic works and also tells you what to do, first thing is to name him, our kids named him "PUCK".
The kids love him! The first thing they do every morning is look for him.
Well one night he must have been bored or feeling naughty because we found him with a dry erase marker under his arm and mustaches and eyebrows on all the faces in a picture he was sitting next to.
