Turns scary......
My good friend Sonia who moved to Washington back in May 2010 but we are blessed that she and her family come back about 3 times a year.
We have our spot we always go to dinner, whether it be for a birthday or just because. Its called RA Sushi. We went back in may and of course had a blast, but in the middle of the night that night I woke up with a horrible burning in my throat and having trouble breathing. I chalked it up to bad heartburn, went and took tums and drank some milk, still having trouble breathing I sat next to the open window trying to take in the cool air. I feel back asleep about 30 mins later and never thought another thing about it until August 23 when we went out to enjoy time with our friend Sonia...
We always seem to order the same stuff, a bunch of stuff and all share. We had been done eating for about an hour when I felt my throat start feeling funny. I felt like I needed something cold, so i kept drinking my ice water, well it wasn't helping so I went and got a pink berry (ice cream of some sort) that made my throat feel better but now I was having a hard time taking deep breathes. I didn't even think of an allergic reaction to something I had eaten, I mean we have eaten sushi and at RA a million times. We went home and I was up all night trying to get this to stop. Wednesday I went and got my hair done and was still having trouble taking deep breathes it lasted all day, come about 6 p.m. I was not having trouble swallowing, so I was gargling salt water every 2 minutes it seemed to help for about 30 seconds. G came home from hockey practice with the boys and I was trying to sleep, but couldn't breathe and couldn't swallow, I started pacing the house, going outside, just trying to get air, went back to bed, got up, went outside, walked around, it was getting worse, finally G came down the stairs and said get dressed were going to the ER. I am so thankful he made the call on that, I don't know if I would have woke him and told him to take me and who knows what would have happened if I would have waited.
We got to the hospital and they took me right back and did my vitals, Dr came right in and looked me over, they immediately started oxygen and a IV.
I went in to see my regular Dr who did a intense blood allergy test that takes 3 weeks for the results. She prescribed me a epi pen shot to have with me at all times. We should know the results in about a week.
It was the worst thing I have ever experienced in my entire life! I now have a deep compassion to those who suffer from anxiety and feel like they cant breathe or are drowning.
